Day Hike to Hauteville, August 2017

a hike one august day last summer brought us to Hauteville, a small,
off-the-grid town opposite our village from where we could get a
view of our place.

Montfort, across the valley from us, was the trailhead for our hike

Hauteville is just a tiny speck on the top center of the horizon

had to cross some steep, precarious spots on the way up.  the guys helped out by throwing rocks on the path to keep our footing dry

the houses of Hauteville are well-preserved and there are unique decorations throughout

the way down on our hiking loop was a LOT easier than the trek up

the owner of this gem had the house up for sale.  wonder if he's sold it?
